Such a beautiful little town! Tour guide Tim was wonderful. He was able to give lots of info not only on the town of Richmond but also walked through the jail with me and told me a lot of the history of the jail and some of its inmates. So interesting but such a sad part of our history. The town of Richmond is so picturesque! Even though the weather was less than ideal it was still a lovely little town. Recommend you visit the lolly shop for a hot chocolate especially on a cold wet day like today! Highly recommend this tour.

I was a little bit disappointed the tour is pretty much a shuttle service between Hobart and Richmond. Many other day tours spend time in Richmond which would be adequate. Also I found the bus driver difficult to hear.

Thanks Tim,for a very special afternoon.Your knowledge on the local histoty was amazing,i was hanging on every word. What a lovely little township Richmond turned out to be.Lots of convict stories and buildings that were built by their own hands still remain there. From the local gaol to the haunted bridge. We didnt escape without an encounter from one of the local gaol spirit s either, which i found to be very intreguing. Many thanks for some great memories.

I tried to book online but the online form refused to accept my Australian telephone number, although I tried it in every format I could think of. I then phoned Viator to query this and the operator would not answer my specific question. He insisted on going through a load of ad in questions, so I hung up. I then tried the online form again using my UK telephone number (for which I had turned off roaming). The booking succeeded. The confirmation said it was a 1.15pm start and to confirm further with the actual company doing the tour. When I did this I was told that there was no 1.15pm tour and that it left at 12.30!!!!

This 'village' is really very pleasant, esp on a nice sunny day. There's a couple of nice cafes and shops and an old bridge and church. All very nice - but Tasmania has plenty else to prioritise in my opinion. Perhaps use this as a slight detour on your way up the east coast rather than an actual half day trip?

Thus tour was great but honestly probably only as entertaining as we found it because we were lucky enough to score SUE as our tour guide. She was so interesting and her local knowledge was amazing. Talk about “going above and beyond” She gave me her knowledge of the highways to take when driving the remainder of our Tassie trip, what is a must to see and then recommend some Hobart restaurants, as what we have chosen so far haven’t been brilliant. Shame Grey Line don’t let her do more, well done Sue and thanks. Claire from Kings Beach

Richmond is a picture perfect place to visit. The bridge and surrounding park is absolutely gorgeous. The bakery is lovely to have a curried scallop pie. The ice-cream is a must visit. Well worth a visit.

In December 17 we booked & paid for a "Hobart Historic Afternoon Tour" 5/2/18 through "Viator a Trip Advisor co". On boarding the bus we were advised that tour does not exist. Description still says historical highlights of Hobart & also includes trip to Richmond. Name of tour mysteriously changed without notification. No mention of merely being dropped to Richmond & left to fend for ourselves for 2 hours. Would not have booked tour if aware of actual content or cancelled if advised of change/correct description. Shame, shame, shame Viator, should receive legal punishment.
